Building the framework

If we only knew then what we know now. Our plan was to create a framework to weave within and for vines and the brier rose to grow up in and around. Creating a wall that would gain strength as the growth enclosed it. We used 10 foot long electrical conduit pipe for the uprights poles, set into sleeves that were embedded in post set concrete.

Measuring for the pole holes.
Setting the sleeves for the poles into PostSet.
Joey with the first wrapped pole.
We drilled holes in the pipe so we could wrap fabric and attach it around the poles without it slipping down.

Poles going up.
Joey spent days wrapping the poles and sewing the fabric on through the holes.

All the poles in place.
We set up the poles as they were done.

Eventually each pole would have a finial that Joey would create in ceramic.
